The vision for honor
Building a Safer, Happier Community
In November 2023, the US Surgeon General declared loneliness an epidemic in America. Despite the rise of social media and online platforms claiming to "connect us," 1 in 5 Americans still reports feeling lonely—73% attribute it to technology, and 57% believe we’re living in a society that is too individualistic.
Using swipe-based dating apps has been linked to higher levels of depression, anxiety, and distress, with dating app users facing three times the amount of stress compared to non-users. Dating apps are also prone to setting users up for constant rejection, as it’s simply not possible to match with everyone. In fact, research shows the average male on a dating app has to swipe right 200 times just to set up a single coffee. And once he manages to set up five coffee dates, four out of five will ghost him.
HONOR seeks to change this by creating a platform designed to foster real-life connections. We removed messaging, implemented background checks to build trust, and eliminated profiles, filters, and the ability to ghost to ensure people connect authentically, without fear, judgment and minimizing rejection. By focusing on meaningful, in-person interactions, we aim to combat isolation, help people feel valued and help our society build social skills again, leading to more relationships and simply friendships.
We know that when individuals feel connected to one another and their communities, they lead happier, more fulfilling lives. And in turn, our communities become safer, stronger, and more compassionate. HONOR isn’t just about dating—it’s about rebuilding the connections that make society thrive.
